Yoga Workshop for Social Workers, Counselors & Helping Professionals

Yoga Workshop for Social Workers, Counselors & Helping Professionals
$55.00

Mental health professionals—this one’s for you.

What if a training could also help you care for yourself?

Join me for an introduction to Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an evidence-based approach used as an adjunctive treatment for PTSD.

You’ll learn how TCTSY can support:
• Increased interoceptive awareness
• Improved emotional regulation
• Increase Coping Skills

This workshop is an opportunity to restore while you learn—combining clinical insight with an accessible, all-level yoga experience.

Space is limited; early registration is encouraged.

The workshop will include an all-level, accessible yoga experience along with a discussion of the TCTSY model and its clinical applications.

If attending a scheduled workshop is not convenient, we also offer on-site presentations and experiential workshops for clinical teams for Livingston County, Washtenaw County, and surrounding area. If you are interested in scheduling a workshop for your organization, or would like to learn more, we would be happy to connect.

What to Expect

Participants will gain an introduction to the principles of TCTSY, including how this model supports individuals impacted by complex trauma, developmental trauma, and treatment-resistant PTSD. The workshop will highlight key benefits of the approach, including increased interoceptive awareness, improved emotional regulation, and support for reducing dissociative experiences.

In addition to the educational component, participants will also be invited to experience a gentle, accessible TCTSY-informed yoga session. This portion of the workshop offers an opportunity for self-care and personal exploration in a supportive environment.

The yoga experience is appropriate for all levels. Participation is always invitational, and individuals are encouraged to engage in whatever way feels most comfortable, including:

  • Listening and observing

  • Following along with guided movement

  • Engaging in their own form of mindful movement or rest

There is no requirement to perform any specific posture or movement. The emphasis is on choice, agency, and awareness of one’s own experience throughout the practice.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to both learn about and personally experience how trauma-sensitive yoga can be integrated as an adjunctive support in clinical and therapeutic settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We provide yoga mats, blocks, and blankets for all participants. You are also welcome to bring your own mat or props if you prefer.

Comfortable clothing and a water bottle are really all you need. If you would like to take notes during the workshop, you may also want to bring a pen and paper.

  • TCTSY is an empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). You may notice that cues are offered invitationally and that you will be offered choices within and between forms.

Although TCTSY uses hatha style yoga forms, the emphasis is not on the external expression or appearance (i.e. doing it "right"). Rather, the focus is on the internal experience of the participant. With our approach, the power resides within the individual, not the TCTSY facilitator (TCTSY-F).

Further, by focusing on the felt sense of the body to inform choice-making, TCTSY allows participants to restore their connection of mind and body, and cultivate a sense of agency that is often compromised as a result of trauma.

  • No prior yoga experience is needed. This workshop is designed to be accessible to all levels, including those who have never practiced yoga before. All movement is guided in a supportive, invitational way, with emphasis on choice and personal comfort rather than performance.

  • No. Participation is always optional. You are welcome to engage in whatever way feels right for you—this may include listening, observing, following along with gentle movement, or resting. There is no expectation to perform any specific posture or level of participation.

  • If you are unable to attend a scheduled workshop, on-site trainings and experiential workshops are available for agencies, clinical teams, and organizations.

These sessions can be brought directly to your location and tailored as professional development opportunities for staff. They include both an introduction to Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) and an experiential component designed to support learning through personal experience.
